VIDEO: Bus Catches Fire in Kolhapur, One Passenger Dead

Kolhapur: A private travel bus heading from Belgaum to Pune caught fire in Kolhapur leading to death of one passenger. 

The incident occurred on the Pune-Bangalore highway between Gokul Shirgaon and Ujgaon around 12 am on Friday.

A passenger was trapped inside and died due to burns. However, six other passengers managed to escape safely. 

The driver and conductor reportedly fled the scene immediately after the fire broke out.

As soon as the bus reached Gokul Shirgaon, the engine suddenly caught fire. Seeing the fire, the driver and conductor fled the scene. Passengers got down from the bus in panic, but one passenger was trapped inside as he was asleep and died due to asphyxiation.

The bus was engulfed in flames within minutes. The fire was brought under control by the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation's fire department.
