Nick Butters runs 196 marathons in 196 countries for charity

Running the world, Nick Butters, who is an athlete by profession decided to run 196 marathon in 196 countries to collect funds for the terminal prostate cancer

Nick Butters in an interview to the international channel disclosed that he has been a professional runner for the past five years. His journey to undertake marathon in every country began in 2016 when he participated in an ultra-marathon in the Sahara Desert. There he reportedly met someone named Kevin Webber, who was suffering from terminal prostate cancer. Butters was shocked as the man was full of life and enthusiasm, he was a fun-loving guy. During their conversations, Webber told Butters that life is too short to not follow our dreams and love life.

Butters decided to run in 196 countries

Butters who have already passionate about running and was following his dream decided to undertake the herculean task to running 196 marathons that will help him raise money for the treatment of prostate cancer and for Webber’s treatment. Butters decided to devote his passion for a cause. Nick Butter told international media, that at that moment he decided to set a world record that will shift the focus of the people towards him. Butters planned a world trip and set a target of  £250,000 of money to be collected for the treatment of Prostate Cancer. The money collected will be donated to Prostate Cancer UK.

The beautiful journey across countries 

After months of planning and preparation for the world marathon. Butters started his journey from Canada where he ran his first marathon. He started his journey almost two years ago. After 675 days, Butters has been able to make his way through 10 passports and travelled through 200 flights. Butters has been able to break eight world records and ran more than 10 million steps which is massive even for one’s imagination. But it is his dedication and determination for the cause along with the passion of running that made the impossible, possible. 

Butters explained that he has created several memories during his marathon. He visited several places and met amazing people. People have appreciated his efforts in extraordinary ways. He shares that his face is carved on the medals and how he ran around the active volcano of  Guatemala. His journey was full of experiences worth remembering.
