India did the incredible to forge an amazing comeback win over South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final to be crowned as Champions of the World at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

In doing so not only did India break their World Cup drought of 13 years and ICC trophy drought of 11 years but they also ended up breaking a T20 World Cup jinx that had been plaguing teams for the last decade.

India breaks a T20 World Cup jinx and creates Unique record

Rohit Sharma and his team changed the trend of T20s in this World Cup, while it was traditionally believed that chasing the total was the way to win in the shortest format of the game.

Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid defied that notion as India set the template of winning the toss, batting first, putting runs on the board and then going on to defend that score.

They managed to defend a total of 172 against England in the Semi Finals of T20 World Cup 2024 and then backed it up with defending 177 against South Africa in the final of T20 World Cup 2024.

In doing so, Team India became the first team since Sri Lanka in 2014 to successfully defend a total in T20 World Cup knockout game. Rohit Sharma and his side ended up breaking a decade long jinx in this tournament and set a template for future.

India not only broke the batting first and defending jinx they also created history as they became the first team in the T20 World Cup history to win the entire tournament going invincible by not losing a single game.

They dominated every team that came in their way and stamped their authority and name as one of the most dominant campaigns the sport has seen.
