BMW Group India launched the new M5 in India with an updated exterior design, powerful engine and more sporty aesthetics. The new M5 retains the V8 engine.

New BMW M5 Launched: BMW Group India launched the new M5 in India with an updated exterior design, powerful engine and more sporty aesthetics. It is powered by a twin turbo V8 engine with a hybrid system, consisting of an elecrical motor and an all electric range of up to 69km. The company has launched the seventh generation of the M5 sedan and will come via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route. The price of BMW M5 starts at Rs 1.99 crore (ex-showroom) in India. It is a more performance oriented version of the regular 5-Series sedan in India.
"The seventh generation M5 delivers maximum performance and comes equipped with the latest technology and BMW M engineering, making it the benchmark in the high-performance sedan segment,” said Mr Vikram Pawah, President and CEO, BMW Group India.
BMW M5 Exteriors:
The design of the BMW M5 is similar to the regular 5-Series sedan in India. It comes with all-LED adaptive headlamps and kidney grill finished in gloss black. There is a single bar on the grill consisting of the M5 badge. The new BMW 5 gets revised bumpers, and air intakes for better aerodynamics. The grill opens up when the car needs more air to cool the engine.
Coming to the side of the new M5, the sports sedan runs on staggered wheel size. The front wheels are equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels and the rear comes with 21-inch alloy wheels. The flared wheel arches enhances the sporty aesthetics. Since it is a plug-in hybrid model, the port for charging the vehicle is present on the left fender. The ORVMs are similar to the previous generation model.
At the rear, the LED taillights are similar to the regular 5-Series. The M5 comes with quad-exhaust pipes with diffusers for better airflow. There are sharp cuts and creases enhancing the character of the sedan.
BMW M5 Interiors:
The interiors of the BMW M5 gets an update over the previous generation. It gets a new connected layout for the infotainment touchscreen and instrument cluster and it is tilted towards the driver. The steering wheel is similar as the regular 5-Series with a flat-bottom. There are new sports seats with the M5 badge. The centre console gets a minimlastic gear selector, a rotary dial with M badge and multiple drive mode selector as well. The steering wheel gets special M1 and M2 buttons, which can be configured for suspension, exhaust, engine, driving mode, and other factors.
BMW M5 Features:
The BMW M5 consists of multiple features such as wireless charger, ambient lighting, multiple driving modes, paddle shifters, and more. Since the new M5 is a plug-in hybrid, there is a specific M Hybrid mode in which the car can be on complete electric power for up to 69km. It is offered with a standard Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system with 18 speakers and 655-watt amplifier. The M5 comes with the adaptive M suspension as standard with electronically controlled dampers and rear-axle steering, which steers the rear wheels by up to 1.5 degrees. For safety, it comes with multiple airbags, ABS, EBD, Cornering Brake Control, Performance Control, and more.
BMW M5 Engine Specifications:
The new BMW M5 is powered by a 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 petrol engine mated to an electric motor as well. The combined output of the BMW M5 is 727 BHP and 1000Nm torque, mated to an eight-speed torque converter gearbox. The company claims that it can do 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, 0-200km/h in 10.9 seconds and the top speed is limited to 250 km/h. With the M Driver Package, the top speed can be extended to 305km/h.

The price of the BMW M5 starts at Rs 1.99 crore (ex-showroom) in India.
