Suzuki Reveals First India-bound Maruti Electric Vehicle

The Suzuki e-Vitara has been unveiled as the production version of the Maruti eVX concept in Milan on Monday.

New Delhi: Suzuki e-Vitara has been unveiled as production version of Maruti eVX concept in Milan on Monday. 

This 'born-electric' midsize SUV marks Suzuki's first electric vehicle for India and will enter a highly competitive market that includes Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, as well as upcoming Hyundai Creta EV and Mahindra BE 05.

e-Vitara is intended as a global model, with production taking place at Suzuki's plant in Gujarat . tably, 50 percent of production will be allocated for export to Japan and Europe, which explains global debut in Italy rar than India,  as per a report in Autocar Professional. 

Suzuki e-Vitara Likely To Be Launched In March 2025

e-Vitara is set to launch in India in March 2025, following its Indian debut at Bharat Mobility Show in January 2025 in New Delhi. A European launch is planned for around June 2025, according to a report in Autocar Professional.

Interestingly, production-ready e-Vitara closely resembles both iterations of eVX concept, which were revealed at Auto Expo in January 2023 and Japan Mobility Show in October 2023, report said.  

Suzuki e-Vitara - Dimensions and Specifications 

This similarity is teworthy given Suzuki's typically conservative design approach. While some sharper angles have been softened, vehicle's muscular bodywork remains intact, enhanced by substantial dark cladding around base to give it a rugged appearance, report added.

Unlike many battery electric vehicles (BEVs), e-Vitara’s conventional two-box design doesn’t seem to be dictated by aerodynamics, suggesting it could easily transition to an internal combustion engine (ICE) variant, it said.
