Tata vs Mahindra: Tata Motors recently updated the Nexon EV lineup in India by adding a bigger battery pack of 45kWh to the car. It mainly rivals the Mahindra XUV 400 EV and the MG ZS EV in its segment. Earlier, it was offered in medium and long-range options, but now there is an option for a 45-long-range version as well. The Mahindra XUV 400 EV is offered with two battery packs, 34.5 kWh and a 39.5 kWh option. Here is a comparison of the Nexon EV 45 long-range variant with the Mahindra XUV 400 EV:

 

Nexon EV vs XUV 400: Price and variants

The Nexon EV is now available with three battery packs, and the price for the 45 kWh long-range variant starts at Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Creative 4S variant. It is available in five variants. On the other hand, the XUV 400 starts at Rs 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the EL Pro 39.5 kWh battery pack variant. It is available in two battery packs and five variants.

 

Nexon EV vs XUV 400: Features

The Nexon EV and the XUV 400 offer a comprehensive set of features. The Nexon EV is loaded with a panoramic sunroof, Vehicle-to-load, and Vehicle-to-Vehicle technology, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, and an instrument cluster. On the other side, the XUV 400 is offered with a 10.25-inch infotainment system and instrument cluster, wireless charger, and dual-zone automatic climate control among others.

 

Nexon EV vs XUV 400: Dimensions and design

The XUV 400 is longer at 4,200mm and has more width at 1,821mm. It has a wheelbase of 2,600mm and a height of 1,634mm. The Nexon EV is a sub-4m compact SUV in the segment, based on the ICE version of the Nexon. The Nexon EV measures 3,994mm and has a width of 1,811mm. It has a wheelbase of 2,498mm and a height of 1,616mm.

 

Nexon EV vs XUV 400: Range

The Nexon EV is available in three battery pack options for customers. Tata Motors recently added the 45 kWh battery pack in the Nexon EV which offers a claimed range of 489 km and the C75 range of this battery pack is 350-370 km. The motor on the Nexon EV produces 143 BHP and 215 Nm torque. On the other hand, the Mahindra XUV 400 is offered in two battery pack variants -- one with a 34.5 kWh battery and the other with a 39.5 kWh battery pack. The 39.5 kWh battery pack has a claimed range of 456 km on a single charge. The motor produces 148 BHP and 310 Nm torque.

 

Nexon EV vs XUV 400: Conclusion

The Nexon EV and the XUV 400 are strong competitors in the EV segment. Both SUVs offer a comprehensive set of features and range. Though both the Nexon EV and the XUV 400 have their own sets of pros and cons, in terms of range and features on offer, the Nexon EV is a better option.
