Volvo Cars retail sales: Volvo Cars reported a strong 31 per cent increase in its annual car sales in India for the year 2023, selling a total of 2,423 units, lightened by the popularity of its XC60 model. This marks a major rise from the 1,851 vehicles sold in the domestic market during the previous year, as indicated by a company statement.
A contributor to this growth was the locally assembled all-electric XC40 Recharge, which accounted for 510 units sold during the year. The XC60 emerged as the flagship model in terms of sales volume, recording 921 deliveries. Additionally, the newly introduced C40 Recharge garnered attention, with 180 units sold, particularly gaining traction in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, where each state saw 100 deliveries.
Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director of Volvo Car India, expressed satisfaction with the company's performance, citing the 31 per cent growth as a testament to burgeoning consumer confidence.
Malhotra said that the encouraging sales figures for both the XC40 and C40 Recharge models underscored consumer enthusiasm for Volvo's electric vehicle lineup. Malhotra further outlined the company's strategic commitment to unveiling a new electric vehicle model annually, a vision that materialized with the launch of the C40 Recharge in September 2023.
