Battle of affordable coupe SUVs: Tata Curvv vs Citroen Basalt
India's automotive industry is going to witness a new trend of coupe SUVs in the affordable segment. Tata Motors and Citroen have unveiled their coupe SUVs.

Trend of coupe SUVs: India’s automobile industry is set to witness a new category for SUVs for car buyers, the Coupe SUV segment. The Coupe SUV segment consists of a sloping roofline of the vehicles giving some vibes of sedans. India’s leading automobile manufacturers Tata Motors and Citroen (a subsidiary under Stellantis Group) are all set to launch their first-coupe SUVs in the Indian market at an affordable price range. Tata Motors will be offering Curvv in both ICE and electrified version whereas Basalt from Citroen has not revealed its powertrains yet.
Let us see what really differentiates these Coupe-SUVs which will be hitting Indian roads soon:

Exterior Design:
Tata Motors and Citroen, both have unveiled the exterior design of their coupe-SUVs. The design of Tata Curvv is very different as compared to the Citroen Basalt. Tata Curvv's front design is inspired by its elder siblings Tata Harrier and Safari, whereas Citrorn Basalt's front design is inspired by its other sibling C3 Aircross.
Tata Curvv gets a connected LED DRL with separate housing for the headlights, whereas Citroen Basalt’s front LED gets connected with the grill with a split setup. The headlights in the Tata Curvv are a projector unit and the Citroen Basalt is also equipped with a projector setup.

From the side, Tata Curvv offers 18-inch alloy wheels with round wheel arches whereas Citoen might offer 17-inch alloys. The flush door handles on the Tata Curvv have a better appearance and will improve the aerodynamics to a certain extent. Citroen Basalt on the other hand offers traditional door handles as the regular models.
In terms of the rear, the rear profile of both Tata Curvv and Citroen Basalt are very identical to their respective front designs. Tata Curvv offers a connected LED DRL taillamp setup and might get an animation effect while unlocking and locking the car. Citroen on the other hand offers a split setup for the taillamps, which can be either an LED unit or halogens.

Interiors:
The interiors of the Tata Curvv have not been revealed yet. Citroen in their latest teaser shared some elements of the interior features.
Engine:
Tata Curvv will be launched with a petrol and a diesel engine along with an electric version as well. The specifications remain unclear about the engine and the battery pack being offered. Citroen has not revealed the Basalt’s engine specifications yet.

Launch:
Tata Curvv and Citroen Basalt will be hitting India'a roads in the first week of August. Citroen Basalt will be launching on August 2, and Tata Curvv will be launching on August 7.
