Bengaluru-Based Home-Startup To Provide Artificial Limbs To Over 500 Yemeni War Victims
Bengaluru-based home-startup KARE Prosthetics & Orthotics has secured an order to provide artificial limbs to over 500 patients from Yemen, who have been left impaired in war.

Bengaluru-based home-startup KARE Prostics & Orthotics has secured an order to provide artificial limbs to over 500 patients from Yemen, who have been left impaired in war. A MoU to this effect has been signed between KARE CEO Mr Saravanan Sundarakrishnan and Mr Hamood from Yemen on October 22, 2018.
patients are alrey in Bangalore, under a 3-month medical visa and ir treatment process has been initiated. In first phase of project, a total of 130 patients have arrived in India to avail treatment. y are victims of war with different levels of amputations and are d between 18 to 35 years. Following ir return, second lot of war victims will be sent to India.

organization stated that patients will be fitted with upper and lower limb prossis at KARE’s 7,000 square feet state-of--art prostic and orthotic clinic in Bangalore. Later, y will be trained to walk, run, and continue with ir regular activities. Explaining positive effects of treatment, y said that using artificial limbs one can do everything from cycling to walking on ramp.

Speaking to Republic TV, Saravanan Sundrakrishnan, CEO of KARE Prostics & Orthotics said that whole process for each individual will be complete in a period of 2 months which will include patient evaluation, casting, and training.
"We are a clinical service providing company where we give freedom to patients for choosing components based on cost, activity, ease of using and brands. We have teamed up with OSSUR, an Icelandic-based global company who will be helping us with procurement of prostic components." Sundrakrishnan said.

Besides artificial limbs, KARE Prostics & Orthotics also provide ult and pediatric orthotics, diabetic shoes and inserts. company is working in collaboration with OSSUR, an Iceland-based company which is a world leer in manufacturing of prostic components. Explaining how y function, CEO stated that y take base products from OSSUR and assemble m into prostic components at home. hi-tech activity prossis is n provided to patients at a subsidized rate.
KARE is a fast-growing prostic and orthotic services company that is present in 4 cities in country. It has treated over 8,000 people since it was formed.
