The outage led to a series of technical issues that disrupted services at airlines, banks, and the London Stock Exchange on Friday. This unusually widespread cascade of failures spread from the US to Asia following Microsoft Corp.'s report of an outage across its online services. The exact cause of these issues remains unclear.

A Microsoft spokesperson stated that the company is investigating the situation.  The failures occurred shortly after Microsoft resolved an Azure cloud services outage, with the company’s status pages previously showing issues with Azure and Microsoft 365 for several hours.
