Apple's alert in October to the opposition leaders about potential government-led phone hacks led to a swift response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration, urging the tech giant to mitigate the impact of its warnings, according to media reports.
According to sources familiar with the matter, representatives from Apple in India were summoned by government officials who insisted on a toned-down message regarding the alleged security breaches. Three anonymous sources indicated that the government went as far as to convene a meeting in New Delhi with an international Apple security specialist, asking for alternative explanations to the initial warnings.

Neither Apple nor India's Ministry of Electronics and Information has issued a comment on the matter as of now.
Several political leaders had previously taken to social media, sharing screenshots of notifications from Apple that warned: "Apple believes you are being targeted by state-sponsored attackers who are trying to remotely compromise the iPhone associated with your Apple ID."

While Apple clarified that it did not attribute these alerts to any specific state-sponsored entity, the situation underlines the complexities surrounding tech security.
