High-tech security measures to safeguard India’s 78th Independence Day celebrations

Security on Independence DayPrime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hoist national flag and deliver Independence Day address from Red Fort on Thursday, August 15. In preparation for event, Delhi Police have drastically heightened security measures around historic site. Personnel have been strategically deployed, and bomb disposal units, assisted by sniffer dogs, are conducting thorough inspections of surrounding areas.

systems are connected to facial recognition techlogy, enabling identification and verification of individuals entering Red Fort for Independence Day celebrations.

Additionally, Delhi Police, supported by Border Security Force personnel, are patrolling Yamuna River, monitoring area with biculars to maintain vigilance.

Security has also been stepped up in Punjab. Bathinda SSP Amneet Kondal as need for increased alertness during significant national events has become a mandate, ting that Bathinda Police are implementing daily security measures and have conducted flag marches in sensitive areas.

In Jammu and Kashmir, security has been intensified in Samba district ahead of 78th Independence Day. A special checkpoint has been established on Batote-Doda highway, and a joint operation by Indian Army and J&K Police is ongoing in Akar Forest area near Patnitop. Contact has been made with terrorist groups, and efforts to neutralise threat are continuing.

Mumbai Police have also increased vehicle checks and are maintaining high vigilance across city. Similarly, in Uttar Pradesh, additional police personnel have been deployed in sensitive areas. ADCP ida, Manish Mishra, confirmed that police are stationed at key locations, with rigorous inspections of suspicious vehicles being conducted.
