Australia on Monday roped in Bank of England’s Andrew Hauser as deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA), filling the void left since Michele Bullock assumed the top position in late September.

Hauser, currently serving as the BoE's executive director in markets, is anticipated to commence his duties before the inaugural RBA board meeting next year.

Hauser stated, "I am humbled and deeply honoured to be entrusted with the role of RBA's Deputy Governor."

With over three decades of experience at the BoE and holding a master's degree from the London School of Economics, Hauser conveyed his enthusiasm for collaborating closely with Michele Bullock, her senior team, and the skilled RBA staff.

He emphasised his commitment to serving the Australian people and translating the recommendations outlined in the RBA Review into tangible actions.

Governor Bullock extended a warm congratulations to Hauser, acknowledging his wealth of experience and expressing confidence in the valuable external perspective he will bring to both the Bank and the Reserve Bank Board.
