Nifty, Sensex close at record highs; auto, realty stocks surge

Stock market close: Indian benchmarks kicked off tring week with record-high gains on back of automobile, realty, and metal stocks, along with heavyweight Reliance industries.

During intray tre today, NSE Nifty 50 today rose 0.81 per cent to a record high of 22,697.30 and BSE Sensex rose 0.83 per cent to an all-time high of 74,869.30.

“Even though Nifty Index breached its all-time high-level today and view is bullish, one must exercise caution on way up. level that trers should now watch out for is 22,300. If we see a close below 22300, entire long bias would cease for short term,” said Rahul Ghose, CEO, Hedge International Tring.

"For trers trailing ir long positions, anor important point to keep in mind is current weekly candle. If this closes with a bullish bias, y should go into weekend with long positions, but if y see a doji or a tinge of red on weekly candle, y should look to book profits," Ghose ded.

“Markets started week on a firm note and gained over half a percent, tracking favorable cues. After initial uptick, Nifty inched grually higher, however, profit-taking in select heavyweights capped upside in second half. Eventually, it closed at 22,666.30 levels; up by 0.7%. Most sectors contributed to move wherein auto, energy and realty were among top gainers. After days of outperformance, broer indices took a brear and closed almost unchanged,” said Ajit Mishra, SVP - Technical Research, Religare Broking Ltd.
