Som Distilleries gets approval for supply of beer brands in Karnataka

The company said that it is in the process of expanding its beer capacity in Karnataka.

Som Distilleries shares surged as much as 7 per cent to Rs 302.10 after the company received approval from the Karnataka excise department for the supply of beer brands Hunter, Blackfort, and Woodpecker in Tamil Nadu.

"We are pleased to announce that we have received official approval from Karnataka. Excise Department for the supply of our premium beer brands, Hunter, Blackfort, and Woodpecker, to the state of Tamil Nadu," said the company in an exchange filing.

The company said that it is in the process of expanding its beer capacity in Karnataka.

"This milestone approval marks a significant achievement for us as we expand our reach and introduce our renowned beer brands to new and high-consumption markets like Tamil Nadu. This approval augurs well, as we are in the process of expanding our beer capacity in our Karnataka plant," it said. 

"The Karnataka Excise Department's nod is a testament to the company's adherence to stringent regulatory standards and commitment to producing high-quality, safe beverages," the company added. 

As of 1:40 pm, shares of Som Distillaries were trading at Rs 304.20, 6.70 per cent higher than the previous close on the NSE.
