Prof. C.N.R. Rao, chairman of the Scientific Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, had announced this thrilling development at a press conference organised by the Chemical Research Society of India. He said a close friend of his who is a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has devised a means of breaking water down directly into hydrogen and oxygen.
