Samsung Electronics Co has decided to restart talks with the union which is spearheading strikes at its chip manufacturing facilities in South Korea. This decision comes as the striking factory workers strike is set to enter its third week. Executives from Korea’s largest company will be meeting with union leaders on Friday to establish a framework and schedule for wage negotiations, according to both Samsung and union representatives.
The recent round of walkouts and protests marks the largest labour action in Samsung’s fifty-year history. The company's largest union, with over 30,000 members, has called for employees to strike at an advanced AI memory chip plant and other factories around Seoul. This stir is a result of a the workers demand for higher wages.

While thousands of workers participated in the initial rally, the total number of employees striking remains unclear. There is growing concern that prolonged labour actions could significantly impact the country’s most prominent corporation and potentially incite similar actions across the recovering tech and chip industry.
