Chip Plant Set for 2025: Tata Electronics is set to revolutionise Assam's industrial landscape with its upcoming Rs 27,000 crore chip assembly plant, which is expected to commence operations by 2025. Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran anunced milestone during Bhumi Pujan ceremony held on Saturday, highlighting project's potential to generate 27,000 jobs.

Job Creation and Ecomic Impact

Chandrasekaran revealed that new facility will create 27,000 jobs, including 15,000 direct positions and 12,000 ditional indirect roles. plant’s development will be phased, with initial phase alrey having employed 1,000 people from Assam. broer semiconductor ecosystem surrounding plant will also see significant growth, as suppliers and related industries establish a presence in region.

Support from Local and National Leers

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who attended ceremony, described event as a 'golden day' for Assam. He assured that state would provide full support to Tata Electronics, emphasising plant's potential to spur industrial growth and provide job opportunities for local youth. Sarma credited initiative to efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Electronics Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who facilitated establishment of facility in Assam.

Sarma recalled his previous interaction with Chandrasekaran, where Tata executive h agreed to support Indian Institute of Information Techlogy (IIIT) in Guwahati. chief minister ted that despite a decline in insurgency, private-sector investment in Assam h been limited until w. chip plant represents a significant step forward in dressing se challenges and attracting furr investment to state.
