151 Myanmar soldiers seek refuge in Mizoram after camps overrun by Arakan rebel group
Amid border tensions, 151 Myanmar soldiers sought refuge in Mizoram's Lawngtlai district after clashes with the Arakan Army.

Imphal: At least 151 soldiers from Myanmar, commonly known as 'Tatmaw,' sought refuge in Mizoram's Lawngtlai district following takeover of ir camps near border by Arakan Army fighters, as reported to PTI by an Assam Rifle officer on Saturday.

According to officer, intense gunfights between Myanmar's army and Arakan Army h escalated in nearby areas in recent days. Upon reaching Tuisentlang in Lawngtlai district, some of fleeing soldiers were critically injured and received immediate medical attention from Assam Rifles.
As per available reports, soldiers are currently under care of Assam Rifles at Parva, situated near Myanmar border in Lawngtlai district. Talks between India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Myanmar's military government are ongoing with goal of facilitating soldiers' return to Myanmar in coming days.

This incident follows a previous occurrence in November when 104 Myanmar soldiers sought refuge in Mizoram after ir camps were overrun by People's Defence Force (PDF), a pro-democracy militia. Indian Air Force airlifted m to Moreh in Manipur, allowing m to re-enter Myanmar via nearest border town, Tamu.
