Indo-Oman Military Exercise AL-NAJAH V 2024 in Full Swing With Focus on Modern Combat Techniques

Rabkoot, Oman- Indo-Oman joint military exercise, AL-NAJAH V 2024, currently in progress at Rabkoot Training Area, Oman, showcases a robust display of military cooperation and tactical preparedness. exercise, which commenced on September 13, 2024, and is scheduled to conclude on September 26, 2024, aims to bolster operational synergy between two nations' armed forces.  

Indian Army is represented by a 60-personnel contingent from Mechanised Infantry Regiment, supported by personnel from or arms and services. This contingent, along with Royal Army of Oman, is participating in a comprehensive training exercise designed to enhance interoperability and operational capabilities.

Focus on Combat Drills and Interoperability  

During initial days of exercise, joint classes were conducted on essential battlefield skills, such as combat first aid and casualty evacuation. Troops from both armies engaged in weapon handling drills, with a special focus on respective weapons systems employed by each force. Counter-drone tactics, a crucial aspect of modern warfare, were also emphasized to keep pace with evolving battlefield technology.

In line with training goals, special attention was given to weapon proficiency. Troops participated in firing exercises with Assault Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Pistols, and Light Machine Guns (LMGs), designed to simulate close-quarter combat scenarios and reflex shooting, both vital in contemporary military operations. se drills aimed to foster greater coordination between two armies, particularly in responding to complex, high-pressure situations.

Exchange of Combat Experience and Field Engineering Tasks

As exercise progressed, Indian and Omani contingents shared valuable combat experiences through case studies, learning from each or’s strengths and approaches in diverse combat scenarios. Engineers from both armies worked toger on field engineering tasks, focusing on construction of fortifications, tactical obstacles, and improvised structures. This collaboration highlighted importance of field engineering in supporting real-time combat operations.

Clearance of Built-Up Areas (CUBA) was a key focus, reflecting necessity of mastering urban combat, which remains a significant challenge in modern-day military operations.  

Exercise Culmination: Live-Fire Demonstration

exercise is set to culminate with a grand live-fire demonstration, where troops from both nations will exhibit skills and interoperability y have developed during AL-NAJAH V 2024. live-fire drill will showcase a range of tactical scenarios, including application of close-quarter battle techniques, defensive manoeuvres, and coordinated firepower. This demonstration will reflect cohesion between Indian Army and Royal Army of Oman, highlighting ir reiness for joint peacekeeping operations under United Nations mandates.
