AIADMK fires warning to BJP over 'Vetrivel Yatra' ahead of Amit Shah's Tamil Nadu visit

All is t well between BJP and AIADMK in Tamil Nadu as latter, on Monday, warned its ally to t 'disrupt peace and harmony in state by undertaking yatra - referring to TN BJP unit's controversial Vel Yatra or Vetrivel Yatra. 

Just days ahead of Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to state on 21 vember to discuss poll strategies with party functionaries for upcoming 2021 Assembly elections, AIADMK via its mouthpiece Namadhu Amma warned BJP of undertaking Vel Yatras and asked m to stop doing so.

state government has denied permission for Vel Yatra, scheduled to be held between vember 6-December 6, citing preventive measures taken to combat coronavirus pandemic. TN BJP President Murugan has been stopped short of undertaking Vel Yatra on multiple occasions during last month.

 "People who take out 'vel yatra' should understand, AIADMK will t allow anyone who trying to do vote bank politics in name of religion. AIADMK will t support any rallies that are intended to divide people based on Religion or Caste", reads piece.

Raising concerns over Tamil Nadu BJP's Vetri Vel Yatra, Madras High Court on Tuesday asked how party mand to go ahead with procession without obtaining permission from state government. Madras High Court pulled up state BJP unit on Tuesday for proceeding with yatra after Director-General of Police informed Court that party was doing so despite being denied permission. According to reports, state's Advocate General (AG) informed two-judge bench comprising of M Sathyanarayanan and R Hemalatha that TN BJP was violating rules alongside obstructing police from discharging ir duties and putting ors' lives at risk.

AIADMK recently also pulled up BJP for alleged appropriation of MG Ramachandran's legacy (MGR) in some of ir promotional videos. Following stunt, Tamil Nadu BJP unit faced severe backlash from ruling AIADMK party for showing visuals of  party's founder and most influential leader MGR in promotional materials for Vetrivel Yatra.  In a 3:24 minute-long promotional video posted by BJP Dharmapuri on YouTube, visuals of MGR can be seen. late actor/politician photo emerges and n transitions into PM Modi's (at 1:23) as song in background stresses on need for people of different colours to unite. In ar video, TN BJP President is seen walking in a farm alongside older foot of MGR doing same.

Despite BJP assuring AIADMK that it was only to pay tribute to legendary figure and meant only as a way to hour  late AIADMK leader in ir videos, ruling party appears to be miffed with its alliance partner and it has gone on to express displeasure, stating that ideologies of both parties were completely different, as per reports.
