1. St. Stephen College, Delhi

St. Stephen College is one of the oldest and most prestigious college for arts and commerce in India. It was established in February, 1881 and is located in the North Campus of the University of Delhi. Originally affiliated to University of Calcutta and then to University of Punjab, it was only with the founding of Delhi University in 1922 that it became one of its constituent colleges. St. Stephen’s College has a rich cultural heritage, and is one of the best institutions in India for liberal arts.  
Some of the courses it offers in humanities and social sciences are B.A., B.A. (Honors) in Economics, History and English, Philosophy and Sanskrit. M.A. in English, Economics, History, and Philosophy.

2. Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi

Established in 1956, this college goes way back and is situated in Lajpat Nagar in New Delhi. It is affiliated with Delhi University (DU) and offers over 25 courses in 5 streams and 2 specializations. It is not only one of the best educational institutions for Social Sciences and Humanities, but also for commerce. Some of the courses it offers are B.A. (Honors) in Journalism, Psychology, and Economics, and M.A. in English, Psychology and Political Science, among many others. It also offers professional courses like Journalism and Elementary Education.

3. Hindu College, Delhi

Also situated in the North Campus of Delhi University, this college was established in 1899. With as many as 37 courses in 9 streams, this college has more than 2000 students and 120 highly skilled faculty members. It offers courses in the Arts and Humanities such as B.A., B.A. (Honors) in Music, Economics, Political Science, M.A. in History, English, Hindi and many more.


4. Miranda House, Delhi

This prestigious women's-only residential college was established in 1948. It is located in the North Campus of Delhi University, and was founded by the then-vice chancellor of Delhi University, Sir Maurice Gwyer. It offers courses to over 2,500 students in B.A., B.A. (Hons.) in English, Economics, Political Science, Geography, History, Sociology, Philosophy, Hindi, B.Ed., and M.A. in Music, Hindi, Economics, English, History, Philosophy and in Fine/Visual/Performing Arts - Certificate in Photography and B.A. (Hons.) in Music and more.

5. Kirori Mal College, Delhi

One of the three constituent colleges of the University of Delhi, Kirori Mal (KMC) was founded in 1954.It is one of the top art colleges in India and a premium higher studies institution. It proudly offers 21 undergraduate programs which include 15 honors courses in 19 departments. Some of these offered courses in Humanities and Arts are B.A. (Hons.) in Economics, Geography, Political Science, English, History, Sanskrit, Urdu and Hindi, along with the general all-inclusive B.A. Course.

6. Madras Christian College

This university is located in Tambaram Sanatorium in Chennai. It is affiliated to Madras University (UNOM) It was founded in 1837 and is an excellent academic institution. It has 17 courses in Humanities and Social Sciences, like B.A. in journalism, Political Science, History, Philosophy; and M.A. in English, Communication, Social Work, Economics, Public Administration, History, Philosophy, among others.

7. Department of Humanities and Social sciences, Christ University

Christ University was earlier Christ College (autonomous) and was affiliated to the University of Bangalore. It was one of the first educational institutions in India to be accredited by the NAAC. Hosur Road in Bangalore. B.A. (Economics, History and Political Science) and B.A. (Theatre Studies, English and Psychology; M.A. in Applied Economics, English with Communication Studies  

8. Loyola College, Chennai

Founded in 1925. Designed keeping Catholic students in mind, however it provides admission to other students regardless of what their religion or cast is. It was established by the Jesuits (society of Jesus) (LC) Affiliated to University of Madras (UNOM). 9. Hansraj College, New Delhi

Another one of the top Art Colleges in India from Delhi, Hansraj College was established in 1948. It is located in Malka Ganj in New Delhi.
