IIT Madras Launches 2 Courses in Data Science, AI & Electronic Systems For School Students
IIT Madras launched 2 certificate courses in ‘Data Science and Artificial Intelligence’ and ‘Electronic Systems’ for school students of classes 11, and 12.

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology Mras ( IIT Mras) has launched ‘IIT-M School Connect’ program to help school students make informed choices about ir higher education and careers. Under this programme, two certificate courses in ‘Data Science and Artificial Intelligence’ and ‘Electronic Systems’ are launched for school students of classes 11 and 12.
courses are designed by IIT Mras professors, and content is specifically tailored for school students. classes will be online. course aims to provide hands-on career experience to students.

se introductory courses are designed to provide students with insight into se fields, helping m make informed decisions about ir higher education and career paths.

next batch will commence on 21st October 2024. Registrations for this batch have alrey commenced on 16th September 2024. Schools interested in partnering with IIT Mras can register through following link:-https://school-connect.study.iitm.ac.in/. cost of workshop is Rs. 500/- per course

Programme Details
- Recorded lecture videos for for 30 minutes each will be released every Monday, content will be for 1 hour, which students can watch anytime throughout week.
- Live interactive sessions once per month - on Saturday / Sunday
- Online assignment once in 2 weeks with 2 weeks timeline for submission.
- 8 weeks of this schedule will be ministrated from Oct 21, 2024.
Highlighting importance of this program to development of students, Prof. Andrew Thangaraj, Chair, Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE), IIT Mras, said, “As India’s top institute, IIT Mras sees it as our social responsibility to help school students explore various career options at an early stage while y are still in school. Currently, we are offering two key courses — Data Science and AI and Electronic Systems; we are planning to introduce more such hands-on programs in coming months, catering to a wider range of interests.”
courses will be for eight weeks. initiative has alrey attracted substantial interest, with over 500 schools across India partnering with IIT Mras. As many as 11,000 students across India have alrey been enrolled in first batch. se certification programs are open to all classes XI & XII students of partnered schools.

Speaking about this program, Prof. Prathap Haridoss, Dean (Acemic Courses), IIT Mras, said, “It is heartening to see school students independently building remotely-controlled robots. Students pursuing Data Science course have engaged in hands-on projects, using datasets to extract meaningful insights. Courses such as se, expose students to various disciplines and help children identify ir interests and strengths."
