The National Testing Agency (NTA) earlier in the day released the revised scorecard of the NEET-UG 2024 examination. Candidates will be able to check the revised NEET merit list on the official website- exams.nta.ac.in/NEET. The revised NEET scorecard is in accordance with the Supreme Court’s order to uphold the revised evaluation process, which includes adjustments made to the physics section of the exam.
The top court had asked the NTA to re-evaluate the scores in light of the expert opinion from IIT Delhi concerning a physics question, saying that two options cannot be treated as the correct answers to a question.
“We accept the IIT Delhi report and accordingly NTA shall re-tally the NEET UG result on the basis that option 4 represents the only correct answer to the question,” Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud had stated.
NTA had earlier declared the results on June 4 which was marred by controversies as 67 students were declared toppers. However, the Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered NTA to treat only option number 4 as the correct answer to the ambiguous question in the Physics section. Earlier, NTA treated option 2 as well as option number 4 as correct answers to the question. SC ordered IIT-Delhi to form a committee to decide on the correct answer. The committee opined that only option 4 is correct.
SC then ordered NTA to revise the results according to this and release a revised merit list and scorecard for all. Around 4.2 lakh candidates who opted for option number 2 will lose four marks. With this, the number of toppers which was earlier reduced from 67 to 61 after NTA withdrew the grace marks, will further reduce to 17 now.

Once the revised results are out, the medical counselling committee (MCC) will begin the NEET-UG counselling registration for admissions to MBBS, BDS courses. The candidates will have to choose their preferences of courses and colleges.
