The Uttar Pradesh government has postponed the implementation of digital attendance in state schools for the next two months. This decision was made on July 16 after Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh met with the Teachers Union. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered the formation of a committee to address the issues raised, with further decisions to be made following the committee's review.

CM Yogi Adityanath also directed all District Magistrates to collect memorandums from teacher unions and Basic Shiksha Adhikaris and send them to the government to ensure their concerns are addressed.

The mandate for digital attendance, issued on July 8, required teachers to start digitally registering their attendance from July 11. However, primary and secondary school teachers in Uttar Pradesh protested the directive, citing several challenges. They argued that the lack of basic facilities, such as travel infrastructure and government transport, made it impractical to reach school on time every day. Additionally, teachers mentioned having to clean the schools themselves due to the absence of cleaners, the lack of electricity throughout the day, and poor network connectivity as significant barriers to implementing digital attendance.

Notably, on July 8, the first day of the new order's implementation, only two percent of teachers managed to record their digital attendance
