In a significant change from previous years, this year’s top scorers were awarded perfect scores of 200, whereas in 2022 and 2023, the NTA used percentile scores due to the use of multiple sessions and a normalization method. This year, out of 63 subjects, 62 had a maximum score of 200, while the General Test paper had a maximum of 250 marks.

Top Scorers in Various Subjects

The highest number of perfect scores was recorded in Business Studies, with 8,024 students achieving full marks. This was followed by Political Science with 5,141 perfect scores and History with 2,520. In the language papers, 1,904 students scored a perfect 200 in 18 of the 33 languages offered in the exam. In the English test, which saw participation from 8.2 lakh candidates, 1,683 achieved perfect scores. Other languages with notable perfect scores include Sanskrit and Punjabi, each with over 50 students scoring full marks.

In comparison, 22,836 aspirants scored 100 percentile in 2023, and 21,159 scored 100 percentile in 2022. The marginal increase in perfect scorers this year suggests a heightened competition for coveted programs, particularly in popular universities like Delhi University (DU).

Impact on Popular Programs

The increase in perfect scorers is expected to intensify competition for programs such as commerce at DU. The number of aspirants scoring 100 percentile in Business Studies has risen from 2,357 in 2023 to 8,024 this year. However, for highly sought-after honors programs like economics and business economics, there may be a decrease in minimum eligible marks due to a 454% drop in the number of high scorers compared to last year.

Among the top scorers in Business Studies is Khusali Nahataa from Delhi, who aims to secure admission to Shri Ram College of Commerce or Lady Shri Ram College of Delhi University.

Delays and Controversies

The announcement of CUET-UG results was delayed amidst a row over alleged irregularities in competitive exams, including NEET-UG and UGC-NET. The results, originally scheduled for release on June 30, were postponed as the NTA dealt with paper leak allegations involving NEET-UG, UGC-NET, and CSIR-UGC-NET.

Additionally, the CUET-UG, conducted in hybrid mode for the first time, faced logistical issues leading to the cancellation of the exam in Delhi the night before the scheduled date. The exam was later conducted in the national capital.

This year, 14.9 lakh candidates registered for the CUET-UG, aiming for admission to undergraduate courses in 261 central, state, deemed, and private universities. The exam included both pen-paper and computer-based test (CBT) modes, with 15 subjects tested in the former and 48 in the latter.
