Gujarat private schools put online education on hold from July 23
While Gujarat government-directed private schools to not collect tuition fees, self-financed schools decided to put online education on hold from July 23.

While Gujarat government-directed private schools in state to t collect tuition fees from students as long as y remain shut due to COVID-19 pandemic, several self-financed schools reportedly decided to put online education on hold from July 23. According to a media outlet, decision, which is going to affect education of lakhs of students, was taken by Akhil Gujarat Rajya Shala Sanchalak Mahamandal, an association that has manment and trustees of schools on board.
It is t clear as to how many privates schools in state are stopping online classes, however, a large number of schools affiliated to CBCS and ICSE have reportedly intimated to parents that re won’t be any classes for students from Class I to XII. decision by schools comes after Gujarat government issued guidelines in a bid to provide relief to students and parents. While state government directed schools to t increase fees for year 2020-21 and to t expel any student for failure to pay fees, Naranbhai Patel, president of Mahamandal, reportedly said that decision by government does t support schools and parents.

While Patel reportedly said that Mahamandal has repeatedly represented state government that a solution is brought about for fees, it was ted that schools have been arguing that y have to pay teaching and n-teaching staff. association of parents have also been demanding that fees or than tuition fees should t be levied as children do t go to school. Gujarat High Court h asked state government to work out some modalities with schools regarding fees.

While stand-off between state government and private schools continue, Patel reportedly also said that Mahamandal h volunteered to bring about a solution in such a manner that parents who can afford to pay fees would pay, and cases of those who cant pay will be looked into. private schools have argues that y have to pay salaries, however, state education department ted that many schools have eir t paid any salary or paid only 40-50 per cent salary to ir teaching and n-teaching staff during period of lockdown.
