JEE Topper Chirag Falor Ditched IIT Despite Scoring 100 Percentile To Join This College

New Delhi: Chirag Falor, who topped the JEE Advanced 2020 decided to forgo admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Top rankers of JEE Advanced usually want to get into the top IITs. Falor, scored 296 out of 300 (100 percentile) in JEE Mains 2020 and 352 out of 396 in JEE Advanced 2020.
Despite his incredible achievements in the JEE examinations, Chirag, who did schooling from Dwarka, Delhi, made the bold and unconventional choice to forgo admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Instead, he opted to attend the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the USA.

Chirag’s decision was driven by his profound passion for space sciences and his long-held dream of studying at MIT. He had already secured admission to MIT by March 2020 but began his studies online from India due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
He studied S.B. in Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics, with Minor in Music & Technology 2020-2024 and passed with 5 out of 5 GPA. Chirag was also awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar by the President of India, along with Prime Minister of India, January 2020.

A Passion Fueled by Family Support
Chirag’s father, Pawan Kumar Falor, a Software Development Manager, shared insights into Chirag’s early interests. Chirag’s fascination with planets and stargazing began in childhood. Recognizing his passion and aspirations, his family provided unwavering support throughout his academic journey. This support, combined with Chirag’s dedication, played a crucial role in his outstanding academic performance.
Chirag was enrolled in Aakash Institute. He was a dedicated student of the Four Years Classroom Programme. He is currently planning to major in Physics and AI along with a minor in Mathematics. “However, I am still unsure about my specific interests in physics. I am currently residing in Pune,” Chirag said.
