Local authorities to decide on reopening Maha schools: Gaikwad
The local authorities in Maharashtra will take a decision on reopening schools in their respective areas after assessing the coronavirus situation there, state School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said on Friday.

Maharashtra government h earlier anunced that classes 9 to 12 of schools in state will reopen from vember 23, minister told reporters.

"However, local officials, such as municipal commissioner, district collector, block development officer in Zilla Parishs and education officer, will have to discuss situation in ir respective areas and reopen schools accordingly," Gaikw said.
"y are expected to consider current coronavirus situation and health of students as well as teaching staff," she said.

"Even if schools do t reopen, students can still attend online classes and learn. I have given necessary instructions to officials concerned," minister ded.
Maharashtra reported a single-day rise of 5,535 COVID-19 cases on Thursday, which took its overall tally to 17,63,055, while death of 154 patients pushed fatality count to 46,356.
