Maharashtra Class 12 Board Exams cancelled; Disaster Management Authority backs decision
Maharashtra Disaster Management Authority on Thursday approved the state government's decision to cancel the State Board Class 12 Exams due to COVID-19 crisis

State Disaster Manment Authority on Thursday approved Maharashtra Government's decision to cancel Maharashtra State Board Class 12 Exams owing to threat of COVID-19 pandemic. decision comes days after CBSE Class 12 board exams were cancelled following a key meeting by PM Narendra Modi.
Earlier, Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikw h informed that cabinet has decided to cancel State Board Class 12 Examination and a proposal regarding same was sent to Disaster Manment Authority which was still pending before Bombay High Court.

“Our priority will be students' health and safety and an affidavit will be submitted to HC through vocate general,” Varsha Gaikw h said.
During his virtual press conference on Sunday, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray h urged PM Narendra Modi to chalk a Pan-India strategy to ascertain future of students of country, inste of state-wise decisions on class 12 board exams.

CBSE Class 12 Board Exams cancelled
On Tuesday, CBSE Class 12 Board Exams were cancelled after PM Modi chaired a key meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani and Information and Brocasting Minister Prakash Javdekar, and key officials. PM was briefed about all possible options for conducting CBSE Class 12 Board Exams.
Due to devastating second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, CBSE h alrey cancelled Class 10 Board Exam and postponed CBSE Class 12 Board Exams in April, however, decision to cancelling CBSE Class 12 Board Exams has been taken in light of risk of COVID-19 and apprehension of students and parents.

" PM said that COVID situation is a dynamic situation across country. While numbers are coming down in country and some states are managing situation through effective micro-containment, some states have still opted for a lockdown. Students, parents and teachers are naturally worried about health of students in such a situation. PM said that students should t be forced to appear for exams in such a stressful situation," an official release stated.
