NEP 2020 will help realise students' aspirations of holistic development: ABVP

ABVP came out strongly in support of the new NEP recently. In their statement to Republic, the organisation's Gen Sec explained the merits of the new policy.

ABVP came out strongly in support of National Education Policy recently. In ir statement to Republic Media Network, organisation's General Secretary stated  merits of opting this new system.

A comprehensive policy launched to transform pedagogical structure from 10 years + 2 years into a foundational structure from student’s primary to secondary st. Approved by  Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, July 29, aims to revamp Indian education system and bring it closer to best global standards. One of key reforms anunced in NEP 2020 has been break-down of existing 10+2 structure and introduction of new 5+3+3+4 structure of education.

Calling NEP 2020, a practical blueprint for  holistic development of youth of 21st century, ABVP members elucidated that  education policy is set to focus on students' personality and skill development, entrepreneurial spirit, mental health, scientific and critical thinking and provides m with very important opportunities for education in ir mor tongue or regional langu in primary school, to study subjects like music, arts and crafts, sports, science, commerce etc, as per ir interests. National Education Policy will, with a modern outlook, provide for a kwledge-based society with scientific temper.

It is largely believed by group that  incorporation of a detailed action plan on achievement of parity in education sector, scholarship, direction of research work, cap on fees in privately owned educational institutions, common curriculum for government and private institutes, laying down new standards of evaluation etc in National Education Policy-2020 is in best interest of students.

" incorporation of invation, research, skill development and employment-oriented education in accordance with Indian values in National Education Policy-2020 is commendable. futuristic outlook and focus on needs of times to come in National literacy and Gross Enrollment curriculum, keeping budgetary allocation for education at 6% of GDP, research, employment, business, subject specialization, importance to sports and or extra-curricular activities, strengning public education sector, multi-disciplinary educational complex, etc points being dealt with clarity and ir incorporation in National Education Policy-2020 is an important step towards realising dream of Atmanirbhar Bharat," ded members who spoke out in support for new policy.

All acemics, student community, state governments and central government must come toger and put in efforts required for effective implementation of Education Policy. ABVP, being a responsible students' organization, will play a leing role in implementation of this education policy.

Nidhi Tripathy, National General Secretary, ABVP, said, "Through National Education Policy-2020 nation has taken steps towards achieving holism and uniqueness that was required in education sector. recommendation to rename Ministry of Human Resource and Development to Ministry of Education shows will to fulfil resolve of building a kwledge-based society. w that cabinet has given its approval, all stakeholders in education sector must be rey to play ir part in effective implementation of National Education Policy. country can achieve se new targets and goals only through better and effective coordination between state governments and centre, and we hope that state and central governments will work hand-in-hand and do justice to aspirations of crores of Indian students."

NEP 2020

NEP 2020 comes after policies in 1968, and 1986, which was later amended in 1992. new policy has been rolled out post deliberation of almost six years. new policy has been a  part of BJP's election manifesto in 2014.
