Patna High Court on Monday directed Bihar government to submit a report with a detailed description of measures taken to ensure learning and education of visually impaired students in state. A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Anil Kumar Uphyay gave direction on a PIL filed by Raj Kumar Ranjan, seeking direction to government to open a school for visually impaired girl students at Jagdishpur block of Bhagalpur district.

petitioner's counsel, Brisketu Sharan Pandey, submitted that a single-room centre for visually impaired was currently operational at Jagdishpur, which could accommodate around 30 students. counsel furr contended that petitioner h donated land for a school, but state took initiative in this regard. Underlining significance of matter, court extended ambit of petition to whole of state, in interest of public, and asked chief secretary to file a counter affidavit within three weeks, stating measures taken by government.
