Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has decided to rename the Maharashtra State Skill University as Padma Vibhushan Ratan Tata Maharashtra State Skill University, State Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha said on Monday.
The government has announced this decision to honour the late Indian icon and industrialist Ratan Tata who breathed his last on October 9 at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital at the age of 86. After the industrialist passed away, the entire nation mourned this great loss. Ratan Tata had dedicated his entire life to improving the country and carved a new identity for India.
To honour the revered industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata, his last rites was performed with full state honours, as announced by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde . While 86-year-old's mortal were kept at NCPA from 10 am to 4 pm on Thursday for public to pay respect.
After the demise of veteran industrialist, the Eknath Shinde -led government had passed a resolution proposing Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian honour, for the late Tata Group Chairman Emeritus.
During a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shinde paid tributes to the Indian legend, he said that Bharat Ratna should be conferred upon Tata in recognition of his role in shaping India's growth story.
