New Delhi: The Union Education Ministry has filed a petition in the Supreme Court, seeking a three-week extension for the high-powered committee tasked with reforming the National Testing Agency ( NTA ) to submit its final report.

The ministry's request comes after the Supreme Court previously directed the expert committee to prepare a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the NTA and identify cybersecurity flaws that may have contributed to the leak. The court had initially set a deadline of September 30 for the committee to provide its findings.

In its petition, the Union Education Ministry emphasized the need for additional time to ensure a comprehensive evaluation and the implementation of necessary reforms to safeguard the integrity of the NEET examination process.
