UPSC: Fresh dates for exams after May 3; staff & officers pledge to PM CARES fund

Amid nationwide lockdown initiated to counter coronavirus pandemic, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Wednesday anunced that a decision on fresh dates for remaining civil services-2019 personality tests will be taken after May 3. commission said that dates for civil services-2020 (prelim), engineering services (main) and geologist services (main) examinations h alrey been anunced and any rescheduling in se examinations if necessitated by evolving situation, will be tified on its website.
After conducting a special meeting to review situation arising out of coronavirus pandemic commission said,

"A decision on fresh dates for remaining civil services-2019 personality tests will be taken after May 3, following second phase of lockdown,"
National Defence Acemy (NDA-I) Examination has alrey been postponed till furr intimation. A decision on NDA-II Examination will be posted on June 10, scheduled date for its tification.
Furrmore, chairman and members of UPSC have decided to voluntarily forego 30 per cent of basic pay received by m from commission for a period of one year, with effect from April 2020. In dition, all officers and staff members of UPSC have volunteered a one-day salary to Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situation Fund (PM CARES Fund).

PM Modi anunces lockdown extension
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while dressing nation on Tuesday, anunced that lockdown imposed in country will be extended till May 3. He said, "CMs of every State suggested that lockdown should be increased. Many states have alrey decided to increase lockdown. Keeping all suggestions in mind, it has been decided that lockdown in India will w have to be extended till May 3."

In his televised dress, PM Modi said, "Till 20th April, all districts, localities, states will be closely monitored, as to how strictly y are implementing rms. States which will t let hotspots increase, y could be allowed to let some important activities resume, but with certain conditions."
