UPSC Prelims exam 2020 deferred amid COVID-19, Commission to review situation on May 20

In light of Coronavirus outbreak, UPSC Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination has been deferred 'until furr tice', commission anunced on Monday. exam was scheduled to be held on May 31, however, taking te of extension of restrictions, commission decided that it will t be possible to resume examinations and interviews in present time. commission has assured that it will ensure to provide candidates with a tice of at least 30 days before exam.

Commission to review situation on May 20
After holding a special meeting on Monday, Commission also decided that Indian Forest Service Examination, for which Preliminary exam serves as a screening test, to be deferred to a later date. It has stated that situation will be reviewed on May 20, and a suitable date shall be anunced on UPSC website in due course.

Commission has alrey deferred Personality test for remaining candidates for Civil Services Examination, tification for Indian Ecomic Service/ Indian Statistical Service Examination, tification for Combined Medical Services Examination, tification for Central Armed Police Forces Examination and NDA & Naval Acemy Examination for 2020.

In last week of April, Union Minister Jitendra Singh h assured candidates that exam will be rescheduled and candidates will be given sufficient time so that y do t face any inconvenience in travelling to ir exam centres. This comes amid pandemic which has severely impacted regular life, including acemic year of students. Several educational boards have also postponed ir term-end exams while some have passed students to next class on basis of internal assessment. All competitive exams for mission to colleges and universities have also been deferred for time being.
