Earlier on Thursday, AAP had held a conference in the nation's capital city to address the malicious issue wherein a charge was made against the BJP candidate of distributing pamphlets claiming Marlena to be a 'prostitute' furthermore appealing the voters to not vote for the 'prostitute'. Marlena broke down during the conference blaming Gambhir for stooping to new levels.

She said, "I am very much saddened for doing this press conference. I welcomed Gambhir when he filed his nomination. I admired him as a person. But he stopped very low for just an election. I don't want money and fame. Gambhir's team circulated a letter against me."
Subsequent to the press brief, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal calling out Gautam Gambhir cited the 'safety of women' if people of 'such mentality' are voted in power.

In the notice addressed to Atishi Marlena, Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, Gambhir has denied any relation to the alleged pamphlet and/or deplorable contents.
"Statements made by the Noticees are baseless, without any foundation, extraneous, false and vexatious in nature as such statements have no iota of truth," the defamation notice reads.
He has asked the AAP leaders to withdraw all the statement made against him in the matter. The BJP leader has further demanded an unconditional and unqualified apology for defaming him with the false and baseless allegation.
On Friday, Gambhir has openly challenged Delhi CM and AAP chief Arvind Keriwal to quit politics if he is unable to prove the charges he had made against him. BJP's Gautam Gambhir will face AAP's Atish Marlena for the East Delhi constituency which goes to polls on May 12.
