Amid the controversy that broke over Sadhvi Pragya Thakur's recent remarks on Mahatma Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Godse by calling him 'patriot', BJP chief Amit Shah on Friday has made his first remarks in the matter. Taking to Twitter, he slammed party's Bhopal candidate Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, Union Minister Anantkumar Hegde and party's MP Nalinkumar Kateel over their remarks on Nathuram Godse.

Nalinkumar had taken to Twitter and wrote: "Godse killed one, Kasab killed 72, Rajiv Gandhi killed 17,000. You judge who is more cruel in this??" However, the tweet has also been deleted now.
BJP Bhopal Lok Sabha candidate Pragya Singh Thakur on Thursday was forced to tender an apology for calling Mahatma Gandhi assassin Nathuram Godse a "deshbhakt" (patriot).

While responding to a reporter's question on MNM chief Kamal Haasan's 'free India's first terrorist was a Hindu' remark in reference to Nathuram Godse, she had said:
"Nathuram Godse was a 'Deshbhakt', is a 'Deshbhakt' and will remain a 'Deshbhakt'. People calling him a terrorist should instead look within, such people will be given a befitting reply in these elections," Thakur had said.
