Despite Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) raising objections against his candidature for the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls, the senior leadership of the Congress party has gone ahead with Karti Chidambaram from the Sivaganga constituency.

The state leadership had announced candidates in nine out of the 10 seats in Tamil Nadu for the General elections on Saturday. But there were still question marks who over who'd be representing the party from Sivaganga.

Former Union Minister P Chidambaram had been pushing the case for his son Karti to fight from that seat, even as the state leadership was against it owing to his involvement in scams like Aircel-Maxis and INX media.

But on Sunday, when the Congress party released its ninth list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the name of Karti Chidambaram figured. It came after a meeting between the TNCC leaders and top leaders on the national level.

Even as there were doubts over his candidature, Karti Chidambaram had unofficially begun campaigning from Sivaganga by holding meetings with the local leaders.
