Days after resigning as the 'sanrakshak' (mentor) of the RJD's students' wing, RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of party president Lalu Prasad, on Monday said he will launch a new political front called ‘Lalu-Rabri Morcha’. He, however, said the Lalu-Rabri Morcha will be part of the RJD and he will form a new party.

While addressing the press conference, he said:

"We demanded tickets for two seats. Seohar was one. We know BJP, RSS will strategically take advantage of the situation. Saran has been a turf of Lalu ji. I want to request Rabri Devi Ji to contest from Saran. If she will not contest then I will fight independently from Saran seat".

On Thursday, he resigned as the 'sanrakshak' (mentor) of the party's students wing. Taking to Twitter, he made the announcement of his resignation.

"I am resigning from the post of Chhatra Rashtriya Janata Dal Sanrakshak. Those who think I am ignorant are ignorant themselves. I am well aware of who is worth what," he tweeted.

The sudden development comes as a major embarrassment to the party which has been beset by speculations of fierce rivalry between Tej Pratap and his younger brother Tejashwi Yadav. Tejashwi has been declared as the political heir apparent of the RJD supremo.

Earlier sources had informed Republic TV that Tej Pratap Yadav, might contest independently from the Saran constituency against his Father-in-law Chandrika Rai, who is a sitting RJD MLA.

On Saturday, Tej Pratap Yadav met his supports outside his residence, following which he informed the media that he has requested Tejashwi Yadav to provide a ticket to Chandraprakash from Jahanabad and Angesh Singh from Sheohar.
