Madhya Pradesh Elections 2018: No Cong sweep, no BJP rout say pollsters as Madhya Pradesh goes down to the wire

Republic TV has published the poll of polls for the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections that were held on Friday.

The poll of polls gives a slight edge to BJP with 112 anticipated seats in comparison to 107 seats of Congress and 11 to Others out of the total 230 seats.

The CNX Poll favours BJP with a prediction of 126 seats over 89 seats by Congress and 15 seats for Others. While the Axis Poll inclines towards Congress with a mere 2 seat difference with 113 for Congress and 111 seats anticipated for BJP, while 6 for Others.

The ITV NETA Poll too swings slightly on the side of  Congress with 112 seats in comparison to 106 BJP seats and 12 for Others. However, the Jan ki Baat projected seat-count gives 118 seats to BJP, leaving 105 for Congress and 7 for Others.

According to the predictions of CVoter, BJP lacks slightly behind with 98 seats, giving a nudge to Congress with 118 and 14 seats to Others out of the total 230. 

In crucial Madhya Pradesh, electoral campaigning from both BJP and Congress saw controversial attacks on each other on the basis of caste and religion. Massive outrage triggered in the political landscape in the state over the video of Congress Madhya Pradesh Chief Kamal Nath resolving to Muslim votes to win election. Following this controversy, there were racial and casteist attacks on the Prime Minister from the Congress party.

The people of Madhya Pradesh have kept their faith in the leadership of BJP leader Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan who has been in power for three consecutive terms since 2003 in the state. With 2018 assembly elections, Congress is fielding to drive BJP out of power by contesting Arun Yadav against the incumbent Chouhan.

With the assembly elections, the final countdown to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections has begun. The results of the assembly polls in all five states, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Mizoram and Chhattisgarh will profoundly determine the national mood. Results for all 5 states will be declared on December 11.
