Actor Rajpal Yadav is keen to contest his candidature from the North East seat in New Delhi, on the Congress party ticket against BJP's Manoj Tiwari.

Pertaining to his candidature, the actor has provided a formula to the grand old party, stating that he would campaign on all the seven seats in the national capital.

On Wednesday, the political aspirant met with Delhi Congress chief Shiela Dixit at her residence, after which Yadav said that he was given the assurance of positive signs and that he might get a ticket on Thursday.

Another meeting is scheduled with the Congress senior leader, Dixit, at her residence in Delhi on Thursday. However Rajpal was seeking time to meet with Congress General Secretary from Uttar Pradesh East Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, but due to non-availability, he has not been able to meet her yet.

Rajpal Yadav's intent to contest the Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket comes days after a long back-and-forth between the AAP and the Congress over forming an alliance in the national capital. While Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was keen on an alliance in Delhi to take on BJP, Congress president Rahul Gandhi gave the ultimatum against an alliance.

On the work front, actor Rajpal Yadav came out of prison late February after serving sentence in a case of non-repayment of a loan. Stating that he is healthy and happy, he expressed keenness on going back to work in films. It was in November 2018 that the Delhi High Court sentenced him to three months in prison for non-repayment of a loan of Rs 5 crore that his company took to produce a film in 2010.

In 2014, Manoj Tiwari emerged victorious with almost six lakh votes in a contest against Congress' Jai Prakash Aggarwal from the North East Delhi constituency.
