Ahead of Delhi elections, sources have stated that BJP president JP Nadda will meet Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday evening

Ahe of Delhi Assembly election, sources have stated that BJP president JP Nda will be meeting with Shiromani Akali Dal (S) chief Sukhbir Singh Bal on Wednesday evening. In a possible U-turn for S, sources furr stated that Sukhbir Singh Bal along with Nda will dress a joint press conference after ir meeting. Earlier, Shiromani Akali Dal h decided t to contest Delhi Elections over ir differences with BJP regarding ir stand on Citizenship Amendment Act.
Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Bal on Monday indicated that alliance with BJP was in place in Punjab, days after its ally decided to contest Delhi elections alone. Asked wher S and BJP would fight 2022 assembly elections separately, Bal told reporters in Amritsar that “se (such reports) are just in media and he has been hearing such reports for last 20 years.”

S h earlier anunced in Delhi that it would t contest Delhi polls next month after it was asked by ally BJP to change its stand on contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act. On Punjab CM opposing CAA, Bal asked Amarinder Singh wher he did t want thousands of persecuted Sikhs, Hindus, Jains and ors in Pakistan, Banglesh and Afghanistan get relief under amended Citizenship Act. Bal accused Singh of following “orders” of Gandhi family to “save his chair”. Bal also slammed rebel Akali leer Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and or splinter groups like S (Taksali), accusing m of trying to weaken S.

Delhi Assembly Elections 2020
New Delhi will go to polls in a single-phase on February 8 and counting of votes will take place on February 11. last day of filing minations for candidates was on January 21. BJP has fielded Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha president Sunil Yav against Delhi CM Kejriwal from New Delhi constituency, and Congress has fielded former NSUI Delhi president Ramesh Sabharwal against him.
BJP and Congress are yet to name ir Chief Ministerial faces. For BJP, names such as Maj Tiwari, Hardeep Puri and Harsh Vardhan have been floated. Amit Shah, however, has stated in absence of a formal name, BJP would contest under PM Modi's leership.
