BJP's Bhopal candidate in a recent election rally called Mahatma Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Godse a 'patriot' and that those who call him a 'terrorist' should 'look within', in retaliation to actor-turned-politician Kamal Hasaan's 'Hindu terrorist' comment.

She said, "Godse was a patriot, is a patriot and will remain a patriot. Those who call him a terrorist should look within they will get a reply in this election."

BJP leaders faced the flak over Thakur's comment, asking to cancel her candidature. However, the party distanced itself from the comment and party president Amit Shah said that her utterances were in 'personal capacity'

Meanwhile, amid nation-wide uproar over the comment, in a final campaign interview to Republic Media Network, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he won't "ever" be able to forgive Sadhvi Pragya for her comment.
