A day after Abdullah Khan, son of Samajwadi leader Azam Khan has opened a new front by referring to the actress-turned-politician Jaya Prada as 'Anarkali', his mother Tanzeen Fatima has defended the 'Ali-Bajrangbali-Anarkali' comment. Addressing the media, Tanzeen Fatima said:
"Humein Ali bhi chahiye, bajrangbali bhi chahiye lekin Anarkali nahi chahiye': It is not against women. Even Yogi ji said 'she (Jaya Prada) is an artist. Singing and dancing is part of art".
Jaya Prada is contesting Lok Sabha election 2019 on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket in Rampur where she faces off against former Samajwadi Party colleague Azam Khan. While Azam Khan was previously slammed for making derogatory statements while alleging Jaya Prada had always had links with RSS, his son Abdullah too has been at the forefront in unchecked verbal attacks.
"Rampur wants Ali as well as Bajrangbali but does not want Anarkali," he said at SP's final rally ahead of voting in the third phase.
Reacting to Abdullah's comment, the BJP leader said:
"Can't decide whether to laugh or cry, like father like son. Hadn't expected this from Abdullah. He's an educated man. Your father says 'I'm Amrapali' and you say 'I'm Anarkali,' Is that how you see women of society?"
