This election season Firozab, Uttar Presh town, is witnessing a prestige battle between two members of a family, Samajwi Party's Akshay Yav and his estranged uncle Shivpal Singh Yav.
As protracted family feud plays out in open, voters in this industrial town, however, seem glued to national political narrative rar than local issues. Sensing division of core voters of Samajwi Party, BJP has trusted an ayurvedic doctor, Chandra Sen Jon, with a ticket from Firozab.

re are over 17.85 lakh voters who will be decide fate of six candidates -- sitting MP Akshay Yav from SP, his uncle Shivpal Singh Yav from Pragatishil Samajwi Party (Lohia), Mr Jon from BJP, Upendra Singh Rajput from Bhartiya Kisan Parivartan Party and Independents Chaudhary Basheer and Rajveer.
In last assembly elections in 2017, BJP h recorded victory in four of five constituencies under Firozab parliamentary seat dominated by voters of or backward classes. But ro is t likely to be easy as his estranged uncle Shivpal Singh Yav, kwn for his organisation skills, who h quit Samajwi Party and launched his own outfit, is likely to make a substantial dent in SP base because of his appeal among ground-level workers.
It has become a prestige battle in Firozab for Shivpal Singh Yav, younger bror of SP Patriarch Mulayam Singh Yav, who has blamed his cousin and far of Akshay as "conspirator" who forced him out of SP.
Sixty-four-year old Shivpal Yav is trying hard to win seat and holding meetings and public contact programmes in over 20 vills a day.
