UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi made a hand-written entry in the visitors' book at the Sabarmati Ashram on Tuesday, following her and other Congress leaders' visit to the iconic location on the occasion of the anniversary of the Dandi March.

After attending a prayer meet at Sabarmati Ashram along with Congress party president Rahul Gandhi, party national secretary Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and others, Sonia Gandhi left the following note in the visitors' book:

The Congress is looking forward to a big day in the context of the recently-announced Lok Sabha elections. The party's leadership is in the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will be holding a crucial Congress Working Committee meeting there. Hardik Patel, the big-name Congress recruit is likely to both attend the meeting and br formally inducted into the party.

Along with this, Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra is also expected to address her first major rally - in Gujarat's Adalaj - since being appointed in-charge of the Congress 2019 campaign in Uttar Pradesh East.

The Congress is expecting a crowd of over three lakh people in the home turf of Modi and BJP president Shah ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, a party leader said, as per PTI. This will be Rahul Gandhi's second visit to Gujarat within a month in the run-up to the polls. He earlier addressed a rally in Valsad district February 14.
