Jammu:  Union Home Minister Amit Shah kicked off the BJP 's campaign for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections with a major rally in Jammu on Saturday. Shah's visit marks a significant event in the poll bound state as he also released the Bharatiya Janata Party’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ (manifesto) on Friday, outlining the party's plans and promises for the state.

Shah’s two-day visit is crucial for the BJP , which is facing increasing challenges in Jammu and Kashmir, including protests and defections following ticket denials to many leaders in the state. 

Key Points from Amit Shah 's Address in Jammu:

  • Home Minister Amit Shah said that, “for the first time since independence, voters in Jammu and Kashmir will cast their ballots under the tricolour flag.”
  • Shah while addressing at Jammu, accused NC, Congress , and PDP of attempting to plunge Jammu and Kashmir back into terrorism. He said, "NC-Cong and PDP want to push Jammu and Kashmir into fire of terrorism." He further added that, "The BJP -led NDA government will not let National Conference and Congress spread terrorism in the valley.
  • He mentioned the success of the Panchayat elections at the address and stated that the government invested substantial 38 lakh crore in development projects in Jammu, establishment of AIIMS and IIM in the region is a achievements of the BJP government.
  • Shah claimed that the BJP has made Kashmir terror-free and facilitated the Amarnath Yatra for 5 lakh people. He further said  that the party is committed to maintaining security and accused the opposition of wanting to reinstate statehood and reservations in ways that could threaten current gains.
  • He promised that post-election, Jammu and Kashmir would have its statehood restored from Union Territory status and assured continued reservation for backward castes in Kashmir.
  • Shah defended the removal of Article 370, arguing it has empowered women and vowed not to let it be reinstated.
  • Taking a dig at the INDI Alliance, he further said that they want to resume trade with Pakistan and also accused them of supporting agendas that could disrupt peace and security in the region.
  •  Shah further stated that if NC and Congress are brought in power, they will end the reservations for Dalits, Gujjars, and Bakalwals which was introduced by the centre led government after removing article 370. 
  • Shah’s address underscores the BJP ’s focus on security, development, and the preservation of constitutional changes including removal of article 370 and 35A, made in recent years as central themes in the campaign of BJP
