New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah mounted a scathing attack on Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress government while addressing an election rally in West Bengal's Balurghat. Amit Shah said that Mamata Banerjee's government will never stop infiltration from across the border alleging that infiltrators are the vote bank of Trinamool Congress.

“Mamata Didi will not stop infiltration because these infiltrators are her vote bank. PM Narendra Modi and the BJP government can stop infiltration in Bengal. We stopped infiltration in Assam. I have come to tell you Modi's guarantee that make us cross 30 seats, and form a BJP government in Bengal, we will stop infiltration,” said Shah during his rally in Balurghat.

Urging the electorate of Bengal to ensure that the BJP wins 30-plus seats in the state, Shah said only the saffron party can stop infiltration into the state. Amit Shah said, “The people of Bengal in 2014 gave us only two seats and then in 2019 you gave us 18 seats and PM Modi became the Prime Minister with more than 300 seats. Now in 2024, we have to increase it from 18 to 30 and cross 370 seats... If we want to build a strong India, we have to build a strong Bengal.”

Mamata Misleading on CAA

Amit Shah accused the West Bengal Chief Minister of misleading people on the issue of CAA. "Mamata didi is misleading people about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Why is she against refugees obtaining citizenship? I request refugees not to be afraid, please apply for citizenship, there will be absolutely no problem. No police case will be filed against you. Granting citizenship to refugees is our commitment," he said

The Centre last month implemented the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, notifying the rules four years after the law was passed by Parliament to fast-track citizenship for undocumented non-Muslim migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who came to India before December 31, 2014.

Shah Attacks Mamata on Sandeshkhali

Referring to the recent incidents in Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas, where allegations of sexual abuse against TMC leaders have emerged, Shah said it is a matter of shame that "Mamata Banerjee, despite being a women chief minister, tried to protect the culprits."

"If you vote for TMC, then you will be voting for atrocities of Sandeshkhali. You should vote for the BJP so that no more Sandeshkhali happens in the state," Amit Shah said.

“Communists and Trinamool Congress are responsible for the extreme poverty that has spread across the region,” said Shah. Amit Shah ended his address amid chants of of ‘Vande Mataram and Bharat Mata Ki Jai’.
