EC Files FIR Against Maharashtra BJP’s Vinod Tawde Over Cash-For-Votes Charge

Maharashtra Elections: Election Commission filed an FIR against Maharashtra 's BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde on Tuesday following allegations of distributing cash for votes in Palghar district. accusations came from Bahujan Vikas Aghi (BVA), a regional party contesting independently in state’s Assembly elections, just one day before voters he to polls.
BVA, led by Vasai MLA Hitendra Thakur, has three sitting MLAs representing Vasai, Nalasopara, and Boisar constituencies. Thakur, along with his son Kshitij (contesting from Nalasopara) and sitting MLA Rajesh Patil (contesting from Boisar), is leing charge against Tawde, claiming that he was caught distributing Rs 5 crore in cash to influence voters.

incident reportedly occurred at Vivanta Hotel in Nalasopara, during a meeting between Tawde and BJP's candidate from Nalasopara, Rajan Naik.
A video, shared widely on social media, shows BVA workers storming hotel, capturing images and videos of what appears to be bundles of cash in a bag, while Tawde is seen seated at a distance. BVA workers allege that Tawde was involved in vote-buying, leing to ir accusations.

Tawde denies all allegations
However, Tawde has vehemently denied allegations.
Speaking to ANI, he explained that meeting was a routine garing of BJP workers from Nalasopara, where discussions focused on sealing of voting machines and procedural process for raising objections during elections.

" workers of BVA misunderstood situation and assumed we were distributing money," Tawde said. “Let Election Commission and police conduct ir inquiry and check CCTV footage as well.”
